Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord out now to resounding success

Even a day earlier than planned

TaleWorlds Entertainment is celebrating the launch of its highly-anticipated adventure-sandbox Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord. The game is available right now on Steam Early Access at a 10% discount for $44.99. Watch the release trailer here!

It marks a monumentous time for Mount & Blade fans as one of the most beloved PC games of the past decade finally got a long-deserved follow-up. Ten years after the exceptional Mount $ Blade: Warband, Bannerlords has now taken the flag of the genre-defining sandbox adventure.

Currently available only via Steam Early Access, Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord has been received very favorably by gamers. With an 87% Positive User Rating on Steam, it sure seems fans are happy with what they got. Even if it took them quite the wait. Understandable, since there aren’t really that many games who even compete in the sub-genre, to begin with. Freeman: Guerilla is the closest game that tries to offer a similar experience, just in a more modern setting.

The horns sound, the ravens gather. An empire is torn by civil war. Beyond its borders, new kingdoms rise. Gird on your sword, don your armour, summon your followers and ride forth to win glory on the battlefields of Calradia. Establish your hegemony and create a new world out of the ashes of the old.

Still, Mount & Blade II is off to a great start, and there’s no question that it’s only a start. The developers have openly stated right before the game’s launch that content is still missing from the current Early Access version. But that’s par for the course with Early Access games in general.

While Bannerlord is at the moment only out for PC, it’ll surely come to consoles at some point. Warband made it to current-gen systems after all too but it’s safe to say that PC is the primary concern for the studio right now.
