Mystique the newest character coming to Marvel Puzzle Quest

A week after introducing Blade to Marvel Puzzle Quest, D3Publisher has announced another character joining the game — Raven Darkholme, aka Mystique, the third member of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants to join the game.

In an interview on Marvel.com, producer Joe Fletcher detailed the newest character.

Her unique abilities are why they chose to include Mystique in Marvel Puzzle Quest. Her standing with Magneto, specifically, make her a candidate for stories that will deal with a darker storyline. Those abilities that make her so great at subterfuge are reflected in the game.

Mystique is a Purple, Blue, Black character — which Fletcher said brings "her even with the likes of Original Black Widow but in [three star] land."

Here are her abilities:

Shapeshift (Purple) – Lets Mystique take the form of whichever character she has targeted, which places a Countdown tile on the board. While the tile is out and the enemy is alive, Raven will drain AP from Red, Green and Yellow every time the opponent matches those colors. Later levels increase the types of matches she'll leach from, and they add a stun to the ability upon use.

Infiltration (Blue) – Converts tiles from one color to another. Changes a certain number of basic Red, Green and Yellow tiles to Purple and Black ones. Higher levels increase the number of tiles affected.

Masterstroke (Black) – Combos well of her Purple. Deals a strong amount of damage to her opponent while reducing everyone's Red, Green and Yellow AP. If she has shapeshifted, she'll destory that Countdown tile and more than double down on the damage she deal. High levels of this make her able to take out Patch Wolverine or Classic Magneto in a single strike.

Mystique will be available in Marvel Puzzle Quest as a reward in a PVE Event starting tomorrow, November 6; it is a re-running of Heroic Chapter 2 – Juggernaut. That is followed by a Versus Tournament that runs on November 14.
