Nathan Drake’s chest hair ‘blows in the wind’ in Uncharted 4

Men are more than just billowing chest hair!

Naughty Dog took to GNOMON School of Visual Effects, Games and Animation as a part of panel to give insights on the video game industry and to offer both inspiration and guidance to students. There were 10 of Naughty Dog's artists on the panel, with technical artists Christophe Desse, Andrew Maximov and Neilan Naicker focusing in on specific features like how efficient animation of grass and water have led to clever implementation of the same technology in other areas.

During the panel Naicker revealed that Drakes chest hair will be affected by the elements, "I don't know if you guys have seen pictures of this, but Drake has animating chest hair that blows in the wind."

The technology that Naughty Dog put towards the foliage in the game can be applied to most thing in the game – including Nathan Drake's chest hair.

"So basically, the foliage tech you see there … I was like, 'Hey can we put it on a character? Let's animate hair that way.' And then we did that," Maximov said to the crowd of students. "The vehicle damage is working pretty much like the grass deformation, there's a lot of that. The chest hair is working exactly like the grass. It's all in synergy."

Unfortunately, there's no image of Drake's amazing animated chest hair, but his billowing pectoral locks of hair were created to test the limits of their creation.  "Not knowing the limitations of something allow you to just come up with something so stupid and primitive that it will actually work."

There should be no limits to the movement of chest hair, much like breasts in Dead or Alive. Be free!
