Naughty Dog says more Uncharted is unlikely, but not out of the realm of possibility

We'll probably be waiting a while.

For nearly a decade, Uncharted was PlayStation's biggest franchise. It combined epic, cinematic action and story with fun gameplay and great characters and it critically dominated the gaming landscape. The last game in the series was last year and it nicely wrapped up Nathan Drake's story but cracked the door open just a bit in case Naughty Dog does want to go back and revisit it in the future.

Naughty Dog is working on a standalone expansion for Uncharted 4 called The Lost Legacy which will star some of the female characters of the series and it'll release sometime this spring, but after that the future remains unknown. Game Informer sat down with the co-president of Naughty Dog to talk about a variety of things including the future of Naughty Dog.

"I would say that Naughty Dog doing an Uncharted after this is unlikely," company co-president Evan Wells recently told Game Informer. "I would never say never, but we've got The Last of Us Part 2 on our plates and there's so much other stuff that [we want to explore]. It'd be hard. If we magically had that two-team, three-team studio, sure – it'd be great to keep doing it. We really love the franchise, but the studio has limited resources and lots of other ideas. I'd say the likelihood is low."

So, maybe we will get a new one in 10 – 15 years but it's hard to say. As previously mentioned, the door is open to continue the series but Uncharted 4's ending also serves as a conclusive ending for the whole series. Would you like to see more Uncharted or would you rather Naughty Dog move on with games like The Last of Us or new IP? Let us know in the comments below.

Meanwhile, Naughty Dog is currently working on The Last of Us Part 2 which has no set release date. Sony also is moving forward with an Uncharted movie which is set to begin filming later this year.
