NBA 2K13 tramples competition in sales. Wait, what competition?

So is this even news? I mean, of course NBA 2K13 is going to sell well, right? It's not like 2K Sports has another basketball game to compete with.

While sales figures weren't provided by distributor Take-Two Interactive, it was revealed that NBA 2K13 managed to break the record set by NBA 2K11 by a 49 percent increase for first-week sales. Not shabby!

In short, NBA 2K13 sold like crazy because everyone who wanted a basketball game this year bought it. That said, it helped that the game was pretty damn great.
