I know we're not even finished with this NBA season, but it appears 2K Games is ready to unveil NBA 2K14. The publisher/developer today released a 30-second teaser for an event that will occur on Thursday, June 6, 2013. That just so happens to be the day the NBA Finals tips off between the Heat and Spurs, but it could also signal a passing of the torch onto the next entry in the popular basketball franchise.
Is 2K Games planning a big reveal for NBA 2K14 to air during the finals? What better way to say goodbye to the old season than by ushering in the new? Of course, it's possible they could just be celebrating the success of NBA 2K13 and paying tribute to what is sure to be a great finals matchup. For what it's worth, NBA 2K13 was revealed around the same time last year, so it's not too unreasonable to think they'd do the same this year.
I'm betting on some sort of reveal for NBA 2K14, even if it's just a minor announcement. I'm sure 2K would love to take advantage of the buzz surrounding the NBA Finals and, of course, E3, even though the company won't be attending this year. Last month, parent company Take-Two Interactive confirmed NBA 2K14 will be released sometime in October.
