We've known for a while now that NBA 2K16's MyCareer mode will have a much bigger emphasis on story. Written and directed by the award-winning Spike Lee, NBA 2K16 "aims to add realism" to MyCareer by presenting a story that more accurately reflects what today's real NBA stars have gone through.
As previously detailed, NBA 2K16's MyCareer will follow a kid through the trials and tribulations of being a top high school player and the decisions he has to make, introducing gamers to the social and business challenges that professional sports players face. Ninety minutes of "cinematic narrative" have repotedly been captured for the mode, translating to approximately 12 hours of in-game story content.
Today's trailer, "Livin' Da Dream," gives us a look at some of the story that awaits. It's got sort of Ballers-type feel to it (minus the comedic elements). Just in the trailer alone you've got the agent pressure for signing a contract, childhood "friends" taking advantage of your position and claiming you wouldn't be where you are without them, and "vultures and blood sucking leeches" (which can be the agent or your friend) trying to feed off your success. The NBA 2K series has been known for its stellar gameplay; it's nice to finally see them improve other aspects.
NBA 2K16 is set to release September 29th, but if you pre-order the game you can start playing next Friday, September 24th.
