Need for Speed will be always-online, won’t have paid DLC or microtransactions

Is that even legal in the game world these days?

Ghost Games is looking to shake up the way games are supported after they release, instead of detailing a Season Pass or outlining a microtransaction system in their upcoming game they are doing the opposite. Need for Speed will not feature microtransaction or paid DLC.

“We plan to release a series of free content updates for Need for Speed. We currently have no plans for any paid DLC,” the developers said in a Q&A, before going on to say,“There will be no micro transactions.”

The developers went on to detail a number of interesting tidbits – one of which is the fact that the game will not run at 60fps. Need for Speed has been locked at 30fps on both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4; According to Ghost Games, the framerate lock will ensure the gameplay experience. Graphics aside, players will be limited to a five car garage that will not be expanded – if you want to get a new car, you'll have to sell one first.

Ghost Games has also confirmed that the game will require an internet connection at all times, even on single player.

Need for Speed is set to release on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on November 3rd in the US and November 5th worldwide. The PC version of the game will release in Spring 2016.
