NES Aliens Game by Square Discovered

Before Square started creating the famed Final Fantasy series that has achieved so much success, the publisher and developer created a game based on the Aliens film. The game was a sidescrolling action-adventure game with platforming and shooting elements (not unlike Metroid), and it was supposed to launch for the Famicom Disk System which would allow North American NES consoles to play disk-based games.

Aliens never did get its Famicom Disk System release due to the add-on never making it to the states, but a finished version has surfaced. From the looks of it, Aliens is pretty much what you would expect from a movie cash-in on the NES. It’s not bad, but it’s a good thing Square stuck with Final Fantasy.
