It was less than two weeks ago that Marvel's Daredevil released on Netflix. Since then it has been illegally downloaded over two million times and watched an unbelievable amount of times (if I knew the numbers, I'd be plugging them in here).
The show is so popular that 12 days after release, Netflix has ordered a second season of Marvel's Daredevil. The second season will be coming in 2016, but without the first season's executive producer Steven S. DeKnight.
“While previous commitments unfortunately prevent me from continuing on with Daredevil into its second season," said DeKnight. "I could not be happier that Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez are carrying the torch. They were invaluable collaborators during our first season, and I for one can't wait to see what they do with the show moving forward."
Both Doug Petrie (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, American Horror Story) and Marco Ramirez (Sons of Anarchy) worked on season one of Daredevil — so at least that is consistent.
Later this year, before season two of Daredevil we will be seeing Marvel's A.K.A Jessica Jones and in 2016 we will be seeing Marvel's Luke Cage. In the future, perhaps later than 2016, we will be seeing Marvel's Iron Fist and eventually, when every series makes its release we will be seeing Marvel's Defenders.
That's a lot of Marvel to look forward to in the coming years. Hopefully people don't get tired of superhero shows like they did zombie shows.
