"If you introduce another edition of your game on the same console, you cannot provide a radically different experience."
Mortal Kombat Creative Director Ed Boon’s words struck the masses in an interview last year with CVG, leading many to believe that we wouldn’t see another Mortal Kombat until the next-generation of consoles. However, with Xbox One and Playstation 4 only months out, it looks as though Boon and company at NetherRealm are gearing up to unleash the next installment of the popular fighting series.
"We've been in greenlight committee for a little while at the studio, and we've got a great script, and a great director with Kevin Tancharoen," Mortal Kombat Legacy Producer Lance Sloane said last week in an interview with GamerHub regarding a new movie. "It's just figuring out the business side of it, and when we would do it, and how do we sync it up with the launch of the game that they're working on now, the next game. It's not 100 percent yet, but we're getting closer every day."
NetherRealm is still finishing up DLC with their latest fighter, Injustice: Gods Among Us, so it’s unlikely that we’ll see a new Mortal Kombat in the first quarter of the new consoles, but it looks as though it won’t be long before fans are “finishing him” with some new killer moves.
