Along with this morning's PS4 announcement, the 10th expansion for Neverwinter has been announced. Storm King's Thunder will makes it's way onto PC this August followed by Xbox One at the standard later date. If past releases are any indication, Xbox One should see the expansion about six weeks later.
Similar to the Storm King’s Thunder adventure coming from Dungeons & Dragons later this year, Neverwinter: Storm King’s Thunder sees giants invade the world of Neverwinter. Adventurers will travel north to Bryn Shander – the heart of the Ten Towns – to investigate the sudden presence of frost giants in the region. Expansion content will bring players through three new adventure zones as they team up with popular characters from Dungeons & Dragons lore, including Catti-brie, Wulfgar and Harshnag.
“The yearly updates from Dungeons & Dragons provide us with a huge opportunity to build unique stories in Neverwinter,” said Rob Overmeyer, executive producer of Neverwinter. “We’ve been discussing the idea of giants returning to the Sword Coast with the team at Wizards of the Coast for quite some time. Adventurers will have several large changes coming their way when we launch Storm King’s Thunder on PC later this year.”
Perfect World and Cryptic are definitely the studios that don't sleep, as the Maze Engine 9th expansion hasn't even been out long enough for players to complete it. Of course, there will be a new campaign as well as more high level gear to earn.
