Neverwinter Stronghold expansion releasing on PC next month

Set of August 11th, Xbox One later this year

Perfect World and Cryptic Studios have announced that the Stronghold expansion for NeverWinter is coming to PC on August 11th. It will be the first major PvP – centric expansion for the game that will task guilds with securing a location in the woods or other environment. In order to do so, players will begin with PvE battles and need to wipe out various enemies and monsters to proceed.

Battles will begin with the placement of defense items such as archer towers and siege engines in and around your stronghold. These will prevent the takeover of your stronghold by these monsters. When I spoke with Rob Overmeyer, Executive Producer of Neverwinter, back in May he advised me that your stronghold will not be vulnerable to PvP attacks when you are offline. Once you believe you are strong enough to proceed, your guild will enter the PVP arena to challenge others.

Of course, if you choose not to, you can simply stay in the PvE arena in order to gain experience as well. New items and gear were also promised to come with the expansion as well. The Xbox One version will be released later this year as we were told by Perfect World Community Manager Alex Monney.

Neverwinter is available as a free to play title on both PC and Xbox One
