New documents reveal that Sony is working on the second generation of the PlayStation 4. The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has published certification documents for two PlayStation 4 consoles.
Both new iterations of the PlayStation 4 seem to be two different versions of the same model; CUH-1215A and CUH-1215B. The main difference between the two versions is that CUH-1215B has a 1TB HDD.
Current PS4 power units generate 250 Watts (W) and 2.5 0-1.15 Amperage (A); these new versions reduces the numbers to 230 W and 2.3 – 0.95. The new versions also show a reduction in the PS4's weight.
It's interesting to see these new PS4 models appear after rumors of a price cut for the PS4 have appeared online.
Microsoft has had their own upgrade to the Xbox One listed for Summer release, but it looks as though Sony won't let their competition expand HDD from 500GB to 1TB without offering a bigger PS4 themselves.
