New account type discovered in World of Warcraft suggests free-to-play is on the way

No solid info here, all rumor.

Blizzard has clawed its way out a hole in the eyes of many (not all) World of Warcraft players with the release of Warlords of Draenor. Because of players turning their attention back to WoW, each patch and update for the expansion will be datamined until every word has been looked over.

Looking at what is coming in upcoming patches isn't necessarily a bad idea, it gives you a good idea of the items to look forward to and how to play your character should your main get nerfed (or buffed).

Dataming of patch 6.1 has revealed something other than items, nerfs, and the like; it has revealed a 'Veteran Edition.' This Veteran Edition is listed under account types, what it does or will be is heresay at this point – but dataminers did uncover data files similar to the Trial Edition account within the veteran account. Where the Trial Edition limits your level (you can play until level 20 for free), the Veteran Edition shows a level cap, money cap and chat channel restrictions.

Whether or not this account type will be implemented is unknown. It could simply be an idea Blizzard is toying with, only time will tell.

What are your ideas on the subject?
