I cannot tell you how much I want to see Battleborn succeed. The same sentiment appears to be ringing through the halls of Gearbox Software, and the developers have officially put their money where their mouth is and released what they are calling their "MEGA Winter Update," which is bringing a mountain of changes in one giant data file. Chief among the changes are the fact that the game is now playable at 1080p and 60 FPS across all platforms, a huge boost to what it was before.
Gearbox also revealed that all 25 core characters are now unlocked from the get go, and any hero keys you spent to get them will be returned to you. Any returned hero keys can be put towards any of the additional Battleborn characters that have released post launch. There are also new features for players to help learn the game or try out new characters, the Incursion Tutorial and a Dojo Mode. The Incursion mode is a practice arena for PVP while Dojo Mode lets you test drive new characters against waves of minions. There are also a host of other improvements as well, and if you want to check those out, you can head over here.
Since the launch of the patch on January 19th, Steam DB has reported a boost in player count, with the peak over the last 24 hours being over 1,000 active players. It hasn't seen that many players since the middle of August.
I can safely say that if Battleborn doesn't succeed here, at least it won't be for lack of trying on the part of Gearbox Software.
