If you’re anything like me, you’re trying to keep everything Bloodborne out of view to keep it pure. A big part of the ‘Souls’ series is that first encounter of a terrifying boss and getting close to one-shotted by it – as you slowly learn the bosses patterns. If this sounds sarcastic, it’s not at all. This masochistic approach to these games is one of their selling points. So if unlike me, don’t get your pure Bloodborne experience ruined by some jack-hole coworker. For this reason, don’t look below this paragraph if you don’t want anything ruined.
Kitao, PR guru for Bloodborne in Japan, blogged about a certain new boss that will be showing its grimly face come next month. This monster looks like it came out of Studio Ghibli’s darker side of production. The PR manager said this:
Today I would like to introduce a brand new boss enemy from the game. Just like in Demon’s Souls, Bloodborne will feature many boss enemies of all shapes and sizes, and there will be a variety of ways to defeat them. So I think you will find that the gameplay in Bloodborne is rich and diverse.
This adorable little scab is called the Darkbeast. This thing is like if the thing that went bump in the night mated with pure lightning and had a child that is the stuff of nightmares. That is a face that I’m not even sure a mother could love. Here is the write up on this cutie:
Darkbeast
A malformed beast enveloped in blue lightning.
With a long body made of only bones, and a wrinkle-covered skull, people say this beast must be very old, very ancient.
Or perhaps, it is a descendent of the city of the plague of beasts.
So yea, while I’m sad this was ruined for me, it’s pretty damn sweet. Bloodborne has really stepped it up with monster design. I’m super happy it’s not following the Dark Souls II approach of every other boss being some big dude in thing armor. March 24th is less than a month away.
