The annual San Diego Comic-Con event this year revealed that a Multiplayer Beta was on the way for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. PlayStation 4 owners will be able to participate in the beta exclusively from Wednesday, August 19 through Sunday, August 23, thanks to Sony's partnership with Activision.
Xbox One and PC owners can join in on the beta fun (as long as servers can connect) on Wednesday, August 26, and will run through Sunday, August 30. The beta promises that players will get to try out new weapons, experience the Specialists system, and try out weapon customization with the Weapon Paint Shop.
If you pre-ordered Black Ops III at a retailer, the beta code will be printed on the retail receipt or sent to you through email if you got an online receipt. If you didn't receive a beta code or lost your receipt, contact the retailer that you pre-ordered the game at — make sure your retailer is participating in the beta too while you're at it. If you pre-ordered it digitally through the PlayStation Store, Xbox Live Store or Steam you don't need to worry about entering any pesky codes.
When you have a code for the beta handy and want to redeem it, head over to callofduty.com/blackops3beta and follow the instructions on the page to reserve your spot.
