New console release date set for Painkiller remake

Publisher Nordic Games announced today a new release date for the console version of Painkiller: Hell & Damnation.

The remake of the first-person shooter, which came to PC in October of last year, was originally scheduled for a January 22 release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Nordic has now moved the game to April 5, which is a big calendar jump.

“We have been working around the clock to bring the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game in line with the quality and standard of the PC game,” Reinhard Pollice, the production and business development manager at Nordic, said in a statement. “There has been a slight delay so that the console communities can enjoy the fiendishly ghoulish experience that we know they want and deserve. In taking this additional time to add the final touches, we know that players will realize that the best things do come to those who wait!”

It's not much of an explanation, but gamers will have to make do. The standard edition will cost $29.99, and the collector's edition will be priced at $39.99. It features an art book, a development DVD, a 10-track soundtrack, in-game extras, and more.
