Over the weekend we were treated to our first look at Star Wars: Battlefront II. We learned about the game's campaign, multiplayer, and new features. Despite getting an hour's worth of information, there's still a lot we don't know about the game.
At a private panel behind closed doors, DICE revealed even more details about Battlefront II. For starters, game director Mark Thompson mentioned that the game's campaign will answer questions that have been lingering in the minds of fans for years. What happened to the Empire after the Emperor was killed? How did we go from the second Death Star to Starkiller Base? You'll learn about these things as you play Battlefront II.
The game will also see Inferno Squad attacking various iconic planets like Naboo after receiving a pre-recorded message from the Emperor after he dies.
In addition to that, actress Janina Gavankar discussed her role as Iden Versio in the game's campaign.
Iden has been trained to be a leader since she was a child. She had a natural ability, mostly because her father was a high-ranking officer in the Empire. She had somebody to look up to.
Watching Inferno Squad go through their trials and tribulations while they’re trying to do what they believe is good, is what you’re going to experience.
Moving on to gameplay mechanics, DICE is revamping the weapon cooldown system. There were no specific details given but they alluded to the fact that they may be switching to a more traditional reloading system.
DICE will also borrow the melee system from Battlefield 1 to use in Battlefront II. While you won't use a shovel or a deadly knife, characters will be able to use items like vibroblades. There will also be new gadgets and droids that will be deployable in battle.
Star Wars: Battlefront II releases on November 17th, 2017 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
