New details emerge for Beetlejuice sequel

In a piece about screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith in THR, who's writing the Beetlejuice sequel, there were some details into Grahame-Smith's thought process for the direction of the sequel.

In the article, it says, "Grahame-Smith says he is rejecting the idea of rebooting the movie with a new star in favor of bringing Michael Keaton back in a sequel set in the present day. He also took Keaton's 'less is more' advice with the character, noting that in the original, Beetlejuice doesn't appear until almost the midpoint."

This is great news. While it may make sense for a movie like Ghostbusters to reboot with new actors and characters, Beetlejuice doesn't — and shouldn't — have to go that route. No one wants to see anyone else other than Keaton play the titular character. Hearing this, it appears Grahame-Smith is respecting the original film and the actor's opinions, which is great!

I can't wait until more eventually gets spilled about this sequel as writing, casting and production moves along.
