New details point towards Death Stranding no longer being PS4 Exclusive

New findings from gamers are heavily suggesting that Hideo Kojima’s much-anticipated new game Death Stranding will not be exclusive to the PlayStation 4. This would be a massive blow to Sony’s exclusive line-up as Kojima’s game has become synonymous to the PS4 since its announcement until now.

Gamers are resourceful people, and today we get to witness this once again. A video game board member over at Resetera by the name of vestan has noticed a peculiarly interesting change on Sony’s official PlayStation website. The user noticed that on the page where the PS4 exclusives are listed, Death Stranding was not to be found. His curiosity led to him view an older version of the same site via the always-useful Waybackbachine. This enabled a view at Sony’s exact website from this May.

And to the user’s surprise, Death Stranding was indeed listed on the old website. So, obviously something changed in the past months which got Sony to remove the game from the list. In all honesty, the most logical reason would be that Death Stranding is simply no PS4 exclusive, and will come out on other platforms. But this unceremonious change to a website is hardly concrete proof that PC and Xbox One gamers can anticipate to play the game, too.

Until Hideo Kojima’s studio officially confirms that their game is coming out for other gaming systems than the PS4, it’s best advised to not expect a port anytime soon. In the age where full platform exclusivity is becoming more and more scarce, we could also look at yet another case of timed exclusivity, wherein Death Stranding will come out for only the PS4 and after 6-12 months the game will be ported to other systems.

It’s all guess work at this time, but this finding is for sure fueling the hopes of PC & Xbox users. But for now, the only official release for Death Stranding is on November 8 for the PS4.
