New Kingdom Come: Deliverance video shows how weapons and armor battle each other

Warhorse Studios is working on possibly the most realistic Medieval game ever with Kingdom Come: Deliverance. A big part of the game's focus is capturing the realism of sword combat and the properties of various types of armor. The developers have released new details on what exactly that entails along with a video showcasing those details. The big idea they present are the different types of damage that players will both dish out and contend with in Kingdom Come: Deliverance. They are as follows:

  • Blunt damage – Strong against “harder” armor types.
  • Slash damage – Strong against “softer” armor types.
  • Stab damage – Strong against chainmail and the like.

There are 30 different spots that players can attack their opponent with while protecting themselves with up to four layers in 16 different armor slots in their inventory. Suffice it to say; Kingdom Come: Deliverance has so many different combinations that most players may never discover them all in a single playthrough.

Warhorse Studios has also announced two new weapon types that players will be able to use in the game. Here they are per an official press release:

  • Halberds: Strong midrange weapon that can keep your opponent at a distance. Strong slashes and deadly stabs make this weapon a strong tool in combat. But using it in narrow corridors or areas with less space will affect your fighting style and mobility. If you’re near a wall or roof, you won’t be able to fully utilize Halberds other than stabbing your opponent.
  • Daggers: Deadly weapons that are only useful in stealth approaches. Instantly kill your enemy, if you manage to get close to him. If your opponent spots you, however, you won’t be able to use your dagger as a melee weapon.

These new weapons bring new ways to play the game, and they both adhere to Warhorse's desire for an emphasis on realism.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is currently available in Beta to everyone who has supported the game and features a part of the main storyline, various questlines, new combat systems, weaponry and the first large-scale battle. There is currently no official release date for the game.
