New Mighty Switch Force! installment launches tomorrow on Steam

After going out of their way to tease a continuation to Mighty Switch Force! this past week, WayForward revealed this evening that a new installment in the series — which first got its start on Nintendo platforms — will be coming to Steam Early Access. Known as Mighty Switch Force! Academy, the game is being labelled as a spin-off of the original game and will actually be available to play beginning tomorrow. Yummy!

Initial screenshots reveal that Academy will mirror the formula of its predecessors, right down to the enemies. But major changes are to come in the form of an expanded viewpoint, where the entire level is displayed on-screen rather than in gradual chunks; as well as the addition of co-operative multiplayer for up to four players. Judging from the game's description, competitive setups aren't out of the question, which the studio will rely on community feedback to measure the viability of.

As a result of the game undergoing progressive changes over Early Access, it's currently unknown if Mighty Switch Force! Academy will release on Wii U and/or 3DS at a later date. But a more important matter we need answered is: Will Jake Kaufman be composing new tracks for another wicked soundtrack? Justice must be served!
