Nintendo released today its latest financial report, revealing an impressive start for the New Nintendo 3DS.
According to the company, the New 3DS is off to a "good start," having shipped 1.84 million units in 2014. This number is the combined sales of the New Nintendo 3DS and the New Nintendo 3DS XL which launched in Japan back in October and Australia the following month.
The arrival of the New 3DS helped push sales for the entire "3DS family" — which includes all of the system's variants — beyond the 50 million mark. As of December 31, 2014, Nintendo has shipped 50.41 million 3DS units worldwide.
Nintendo noted that 3DS sales "did not grow sufficiently" in North America and Europe this fiscal year; but, both regions are still awaiting the arrival of the New 3DS, which is set to launch next month.
Between April and December 2014, Nintendo moved 7.08 million 3DS systems worldwide.
