New Spider-Man film will not be an origin story

In 2002, we saw the first Spider-Man origin film with Tobey Maguire. In 2012, we again saw yet another origin film for Spidey — this time with Andrew Garfield. Both of the Spider-Man films went on to spawn more films based on their world's specifications. What will the third reboot of the Spider-Man franchise bring?

According to Kevin Feige, the President of Marvel Studios, the Spider-Man reboot film won't be an origin story; it will pick up with some "young kid" already acting as Spider-Man.

“It will not be an origin story. But, with great power comes great responsibility. It is inherent to who his character is. But we want to reveal it in different ways and spend much more time focusing on this young high school kid in the MCU dealing with his powers.”

“There is a young kid [already] running around New York City in a homemade version of the Spider-Man costume in the MCU, you just don’t know it yet.“

While Feige believes that the previous Spider-Man films did some things "really, really right," he acknowledges that there are things they haven't done which will be addressed in the upcoming reboot:

"I think there are a lot of things they haven’t done, which is A) his interactions with other heroes in the universe, because that was not possible, and also exploring more the notion, as the comics did for many, many years, as Ultimate Spider-Man did for ten years, [of] a much younger version of Spider-Man than we’ve seen in the movies. [The previous films] get him in and out of high school really fast.”

This thought falls directly in line with previous statements saying that Peter Parker will be a teenager, who is still in High School. The reboot will feature a costume that is "different than any of the ones that have come before," but is still classic Spidey."
