New Splatoon commercial shows off some upcoming content

Of course, those new weapons were shown off on new maps.

New stages, that we haven't seen before, are coming.

There's nothing like the rush of playing on a new stage, and we see at least two in this latest commercial. This one surrounded by apartment buildings has a nice amount of verticality and climbing in it, with several spots for death-from-above sneak attacks. You may want to keep your chin up a little higher while playing this map.

A new map on a bridge, but what's that inkling holding?

Here we get a glimpse at a map on a suspension bridge, which seems to be filled with grates that will allow for battles on two levels.Do you take the high path on the grates and rain death on those below you at the cost of your squid form mobility, or do you attack from below with your greater mobility?

Well, if you're like the inkling pictured about and have the mighty Rainmaker,, the choice is probably made for you. The player with the Rainmaker will slowly hoof their way through enemy territory. In exchange for bearing this giant target marker and decreased mobility, the Rainmaker is essentially a full time Inkzooka, capable of splattering anyone unfortunate to be in its path.

Rainmaker mode brings us new battles in the form of an inverted capture the flag. The winner will be the team that puts the rainmaker into the enemy's base, or has moved the rainmaker closer to the enemy base when time runs out. It's an interesting new addition, even more so with the matchmaking update coming with it in August.

The newest Japanese Splatoon commercial shows off a lot of new stuff to keep the Splatoon hype train rolling. The commercial itself is well done with what we can only hope is some new in game music. and editing that makes us wish we had a Splatoon TV option, à la Mario Kart TV.. It went on to show us new weapons, maps, and a sneak peek at the Rainmaker mode.

The most eye catching items were the new weapons.

The new Heavy.

It's the weapon you've been waiting for, the gatling gun. We've known there would be a gatling gun for a while, thanks to a little .dat mining. Its placement in the files is by the charger weapons, and given it has a wind up before it starts shooting, it could be a subtype of the charger family. Either way, it's exciting stuff.

Yeah, that's a bucket weapon…

Once upon a time, people thought Splatoon was destined to be a bigger flop than the under appreciated Wonderful 101. Nintendo doing a shooter game with no blood and guts? Talk about a massive failure waiting to happen, Nintendo is so out of touch with their audience it's scary, right?

Then, Nintendo did their magic and made a revolutionary entry into a stale genre, with their first attempt. This weapon embodies that magic: Only Nintendo could turn a paint bucket into a devastating weapon with which to wreak havoc upon the battlefield.

Oh, check out those snazzy new clothes too.
