Valve’s in-progress Steam Box and companion gamepad Steam Controller have become moderately less odd with a new pad layout adding a tried-and-true analog stick to the little boombox.
As GameInformer reports, the new layout first surfaced in Facepunch forums around June 4, but as a bare-bones input diagram (seen below). Only recently has Valve updated the image to show not only the controller’s prototype, but the actual inputs assigned. The most prominent addition is, of course, the single analog stick located just below the left touch pad.
The Steam Controller was revealed back in September 2013, and has seen a fairly bumpy road since. After having its commercial release delayed into 2015, its vaunted central touchscreen was ditched in favor of more traditional face buttons.
