Human beings have always had one goal in mind throughout the evolution of civilization: conquest. Whether its the Norman conquest of England, the Roman conquest of Britain, the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire, humans have always done their best to expand their territory and colonize new areas.
Paradox's space exploration game, Stellaris, takes this goal and applies it to the final frontier. The game starts of with players exploring space, discovering new technologies and making contact with new alien species.
Of course, as most things go, interactions with the aliens can lead to alliances or to never-ending rivalries. Each species has their own communications method, ideologies , and more – so players will have to take care on how their first contact is made.
Stellaris features a number of themes beyond conquest and colonization, as per Paradox's description:
- Anomaly Events – Strange discoveries offer emergent storytelling.
- Deep & Varied Exploration.
