New story details for Noctis and Luna emerge for Final Fantasy XV

During the Active Time Report for Final Fantasy XV late last night at TGS, Square Enix revealed some brand new details on the game's story line as delivered on their twitter account, specifically background on Noctis and Luna.

In the game, The Niflheim Empire has achieved world domination over everyone except Lucis who is using the crystal to defy them. King Regis (Noctis' father) is the guardian of the crystal as King and can use its power to generate weapons out of the air at will. He has aged more quickly than normal as the crystal needs his energy as guardian in order to maintain the force field shield around the Kingdom of Lucis. The Queen, Noctis' mother and wife of Regis, passed away when Noctis was only a small child.

As far as Luna is concerned, she is the youngest oracle ever with the ability to speak to the gods utilizing her double sided spear which is both a weapon and channel to the gods. She resides in the city of Tenabrae which is under the Niflheim control but she has some leniency due to her ability to communicate with the gods themselves. Square Enix teased she and Noctis' connection to the story by indicating they made a child hood promise to each other but in a "I know something you don't know" type of way they are not saying what it is yet.

The story line is getting better and better the more information we hear on the game and its 2016 release can't come soon enough. We'll keep you updated with information as we receive it.
