New Street Fighter 5 PC anti-cheat update basically runs like malware

I'd almost rather deal with cheaters.

Street Fighter V didn't release without its fair share of problems and one of the biggest problems was the players. Unfortunately, the game was plagued by rage quitters and cheaters, they were such a problem that Capcom had to do something about it.

Capcom has attempted to fix the cheating problem by added another problem. According to some eagle-eyed PC players on Reddit, the recent PC update for Street Fighter 5 roots itself in your computer's System32 files – just like malware would.

Capcom's intention was to stop cheaters from manipulating files, but it isn't sitting well with the community.

By sitting itself in your System files, Street Fight 5 can read, change, or steal information from any software running on your computer or on your drive. Would Capcom use this against you? Probably not, but that doesn't mean someone else wouldn't.

In the past, this type of set up has been manipulated and exploited to leak data – it even happened to Sony (via Reddit)!
