New Super Mario Bros. U will look all sexy in 1080p

Despite Nintendo previously stating that New Super Mario Bros. U would run in 720p, it appears that's not the case. A brief description on the upcoming Wii U game's official site indicates that it will actually support deliciously tasty-looking 1080p resolution. "Experience Mario like never before … in high definition, only on the Wii U console!" reads the description.

Previously, New Super Mario Bros. U has been showcased by Nintendo while running in 720p. Personally, I thought it looked fine before. That said, it's cool that it's getting that nice boost.

It should be noted that New Super Mario Bros. U isn't the only title running in 1080p right out of the gate. Indie game Toki Tori will also take advantage of the Wii U hardware and offer the higher resolution. Meanwhile other games such as Mass Effect 3 will still sport 720p visuals.
