New teaser for Pixar’s Cars 3 introduces darker tone for the series

It's actually a remake of Talladega Nights.

Pixar is REALLY busy for the next few years with Toy Story 4 and The Incredibles 2, but before that we have to get another big sequel out of the way. Cars 3 hits theaters next summer and details have been somewhat scarce about the movie, but today Pixar revealed a brief teaser trailer and a plot synopsis to give us a general idea of what we will be seeing in June.

Cars 3 looks to be taking a much darker turn and will be getting rid of all the spy nonsense from the second film. The trailer and plot synopsis tease that Lightning McQueen will be critically injured and will be set back significantly. The synopsis reads as follows: "Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves. To get back in the game, he will need the help of an eager young race technician, Cruz Ramirez, with her own plan to win, plus inspiration from the late Fabulous Hudson Hornet and a few unexpected turns. Proving that #95 isn’t through yet will test the heart of a champion on Piston Cup Racing’s biggest stage!"

Cars 3 will release June 16th, 2017.
