New text adventure lets you invent Star Wars as George Lucas

Try not to die first

Satire hub ClickHole’s latest text adventure tasks players with inventing Star Wars as a down-on-his-luck George Lucas.

The quaint little game is built like a standard choose-your-own-adventure book: lots of options, lots of ways to fail. Not wishing to spoil, you start as a struggling young filmmaker desperate for a pitch. From there, the tale quickly devolves into a tangled mess of reckless driving, spaghetti strainers, unutterably convenient inspiration and plenty more nonsense worthy of Deadpool.

It’s surprisingly fun to play.

The highlight for me was the bolt of genius which only careening through a windshield could spark. I shattered my collarbone and dislocated my spine, but it was worth it. Because I knew:

“An orphan named Luke Skywalker finds out that he is a Jedi and must defeat Darth Vader’s evil empire to bring peace back to the galaxy.”

Few holes to fill in, but it's a start.
