New Trailer for Dragon Quest XI highlights colorful Cast

Square Enix has graced us with a new trailer for Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age. The character trailer introduces a varied troupe of companions. The eleventh entry to the cult JRPG series is set to release on September 4th for PS4 and PC.

Pretty much exactly one month left, until gamers in the West finally get the chance to play Dragon Quest XI. The wait has been a long one, since the initial Japanese release way back in July 2017. While demanding a rather long stretch of patience, localizing the huge JRPG into another language is an arduous task.

All is well that ends well however and with the game’s western release at the doorstep, publisher Square Enix is entering the final stretch of promotion. With today’s character trailer, we get to make acquaintance with a varied cast of allies who will accompany us throughout an adventurous journey.

We get to see a fairly staple ensemble, consisting of cult JRPG tropes, from mages to healers, martial artists to thieves and more. Dragon Quest XI is not cliche however but rather a celebration of traditional JRPG goodness. After all, the Dragon Quest series is synonymous with the JRPG genre, being often hailed as highly instrumental to the genre itself.

In Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age, our nameless young protagonist learns during his coming-of-age ceremony that he his a chosen hero, destined to rid the land of evil and prevent the resurrection of the ultimate evil. Thus, he ventures out into the world, leaving his hometown behind. In his quest to fulfill his destiny, the player will encounter not only enemies but also allies who will join him in his adventure.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age will release on September 4th, for PS4 and PC. The announced Nintendo Switch version still has no concrete release date. You can head over to the game’s website where you can pre-order your copy of the game today.
