Writer/Director Judd Apatow's sort-of-sequel to Knocked Up got another trailer. This is 40 follows the story of Pete (Paul Rudd) and Debbie (Leslie Mann) as they struggle with life and getting older. For Pete, he wants alone time in the bathroom, has fallen into a sort-of rutt, and has colonoscopies to look forward to. Debbie is about to turn 40 and hates getting older.
It looks like This is 40 is going to be a funny movie, but more in the dramedy category. I'm sure there'll be some tugging on the heartstrings, but that's what makes the funny parts hit so much harder. It also looks like it focuses more on their family, with their kids older and dealing with the stuff that comes with being a teenager. Albert Brooks is introduced as Paul Rudd's father, who always wants to borrow money from his son, using excuses like "Your mother wanted an abortion."
The movie also sees a return of Jason Segel's character, Megan Fox, Chris O'Dowd, Melissa McCarthy and John Lithgow. I can't wait for this movie and can't wait to see how these characters overcome their hurdles. They were my favorite characters in Knocked Up, so watching them get high in a hotel room and tell the room service there's a rodent infection as Debbie scurries across the floor is high on my list of things to see.
This is 40 releases on December 21, 2012.
