A few months ago, Sony Pictures released the first trailer for Pixels, a new film in which aliens misinterpret video feeds of classic arcade games as a declaration of war against them and attack the Earth using their games as models for their various assaults.
Of course, it's a silly premise, but I wouldn't expect anything less with a cast that includes Adam Sandler (Grown Ups, Happy Gilmore), Kevin James (King of Queens, Paul Blart: Mall Cop), Michelle Monaghan (True Detective, Source Code), Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones, X-Men: Days of Future Past), and Josh Gad (Frozen).
The problem was, the first trailer was a bit too over-the-top and silly. Today's trailer eases some of my concerns showing off a more action-packed, gamer-centric plot — one that involves a team of old-school arcade gamers having to save the planet.
Pixels is set to hit theaters on July 24.
