New update makes Xbox One the first platform with fully-featured Twitch app

Twitch app gets new search filters, VODs, and an overhauled Home screen

The Twitch app has just received a huge update on Xbox One that introduces a slew of advanced broadcast filtering features that should improve your overall experience and "help you find exactly what you want to watch at a moments notice."

Using Xbox LIVE's new ability to associate real-time gameplay stats with broadcasts, viewers are now equipped with an array of new search options, including filters that allow you to specify player stats, game modes, maps, player skill level, in-game activity, progress, and more. Filtering options can change depending on the game, so for example, you can search for the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare broadcaster with the highest kill/death ratio or a Forza Horizon 2 player driving a specific class of car.

In addition to advanced broadcast filtering, the update also introduces videos on demand (VODs), making Xbox One the first platform with a full-featured Twitch app. You'll now be able to see highlights and past broadcasts at any time, even if the broadcaster is offline.

And finally, your Home Screen has been overhauled to provide "a more personalized" experience. You can now follow specific games or specific channels. Broadcasters are also receiving new profile pages.

Microsoft promises this is just the "tip of the iceberg" when it comes to Twitch on Xbox One app's array of new search options. "This new Twitch experience also helps up-and-coming broadcasters find audiences," Larry 'Major Nelson' Hrby said. "After all, if you're one of the best players of a game, yet you're brand new to Twitch, you could quickly attract attention as viewers filter by skill."
