New images have surfaced of the new Pop! and Dorbz vinyl figures featuring Kurt Russell's Ego from 'Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2'.
Last year's San Diego Comic-Con was an affair to remember. Marvel Studios was one of the main frontrunners having revealed a lot of content that we can expect to indulge in over the course of 2017. Out of the three movies slated for this year (a record number for the MCU), one of the more anticipated projects coming is 'Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2', the sequel to the 2014 smash hit.
One of the major reveals about the movie, and likely the most important, was the inclusion of Kurt Russell as none other than Star-Lord's father. The announcement was made all the more staggering, however, when director, James Gunn, said his father was not going to be J'Son of Spartoi as he is in the comics, but rather the classic sentient celestial body, Ego the Living Planet. Since then, there has been a great deal of speculation as to how that could even…"happen". Recently, new images have surfaced of Pop! and Dorbz newest vinyl figures which reveal our first look at Ego:
As you can see, well…he's humanoid. More curious is the fact that the "Living Planet" title has been omitted from the name and he's simply referred to as "Ego" on both counts. This new information leaves a lot to the imagination. Is it possible he actually is a sentient planet, but takes on a human form to copulate? Could he have been J'Son at some point, but was somehow turned into a planet? These figures seem to raise more questions than answers, but all should be revealed soon enough as we approach the release date this summer.
