New X-Men: Apocalypse trailer promises plenty of destruction

As promised, 20th Century Fox has released the new trailer for Bryan Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse, the third and presumably final installment in the studio's X-Men trilogy.

The trailer gives us our first full look at En Sabah Nur (Oscar Isaac), perhaps better known as the mutant Apocalypse, who, upon awakening after thousands of years, is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants to cleanse mankind. With the fate of Earth hanging in balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of (a finally bald) Profressor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men — including Cyclops, Nightcrawler, and Jean Grey — to stop the most formidable foe they've faced yet and save mankind from total annihilation.

The trailer gives us only a glimpse of Apocalypse's power, but he certainly appears to be living up to his name.

X-Men Apocalypse will premiere in theaters on May 27, 2016, a few months after another notable superhero blockbuster — Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice — hits theaters. Interestingly, Warner Bros.' superhero flick also just received a new trailer, which you can watch here.
