Newegg giving free Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain codes to make up for Arkham Knight

As a result of the disastrous launch of Batman Arkham Knight, Newegg has decided to give customers who purchased the game on PC free codes for Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain. The news comes a full two months after the launch of Arkham Knight, whichis still broken and waiting for the ever illusive patch to come to the rescue.

The post, which was originally posted on Reddit, also mentions that other retailers are matching the deal so long you inform them of what Newegg is doing. In order to receive the free code for MGS V, you will have to provide Newegg your original order number to verify you're not just making it up of course. There is also no limit to the number of copies you can get. For example, it's not a one shot deal. If you bought three copies of the game you will get three codes for MGS V.

The launch for Batman: Arkham Knight was so bad that it forced Warner Bros. to stop selling the PC version of the game entirely until the patch is able to resolve the issue. As noted above, we're two months in and just like Christmas, the patch is still coming.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is available September 1st on Xbox, PlayStation and PC.
