Newest Switch Must-Have Astral Chain gets launch trailer

Nintendo Switch owners are having an all around great time recently. With one of the more anticipated games just having released last month, it’s Platinum Games’ turn. Their stylish action-adventure game Astral Chain is at the doorsteps with its release date of August 30, and today we get the launch trailer. Check it out!

No matter what Platinum Games cooks up, it’s always something special and most often than not it’s a new IP. The talented Japanese devs have long established themselves as a power house of quality action-oriented gaming. With an impressive resume of games under their belt like Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising, Nier: Automata and many more, it’s no surprise that gamers are extremely hopeful that Astral Chain will be something special, too.

Set in a futuristic world, players assume the role of two police offers in the Neuron. A special task force of the police who deal with demon-like creatures who are entering the world adn threaten to destroy the last bastion of humanity. The island city Ark.

Humanity’s last chance against an interdimensional invasion is a special living weapon called the Legion. As a rookie officer in the elite police task force Neuron, you and your Legion will work together to solve cases and save humankind.

Similar to other Platinum titles, Astral Chains focuses on skill-based melee-combat. In this case, the special gimmick are Legions. Living weapons which are bound to Neuron officers and offer another layer to the fast-paced combat in form of special attacks. There exist several unique Legions in the game world, each offering unique skills. Players can swap their Legions, upgrade them and tackle objectives in different styles this way.

With a very high Metacritic score of 88, Platinum looks to have created yet another great game and the Switch is getting yet another must-have exclusive.

Astral Chain will be hitting the Nintendo Switch this Friday, August 30th.
