Every so often we hear a little about Alan Wake. When the first game was initially announced, it was one of the most watched titles of what would be the current console generation. Then it just sort of fizzled out, and while people certainly cared about it, it wasn't the big deal it was when we were still enjoying our PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube consoles.
These days, Alan Wake is seen as an enjoyable title that wasn't the amazing experience everyone had hoped for. Still, it keeps on going like a tenacious little fighter, popping up here and there. The latest news to surface revolves around a new game in the series.
Alan Wake 2? Not really.
Remedy has confirmed that while a new entry in the franchise is in the works, it is not Alan Wake 2. According to Game Informer's Jim Reilly, the upcoming title will be a downloadable Xbox Live Arcade Game, not a sequel to the first Alan Wake.
Well, that's a shame. Kind of. I don't really know what to say about this. Do people even care about Alan Wake anymore? Not to sound like a d*ck, but this hardly seems like the strong series it could have been. In any case, I'm a big fan of standalone downloadable games, so if you enjoyed the first Alan Wake and were expecting this to be a full sequel, don't write it off just yet. It could be pretty awesome if you're into the series.
