‘Next Chapter’ of Kingdom Hearts coming to the West?

The "next chapter" of Square Enix's beloved Kingdom Hearts franchise could be heading to Western countries. Jesse McCartney, the voice actor for Roxas in the English versions of the Kingdom Hearts games, posted an image on his Instagram hinting that he's working on a new game in the series.

The image was of him in a recording booth with his character clearly displayed on a screen. The caption read, " For all you 'Kingdom Hearts' Fans. Recording the next chapter! #KingdomHearts #Roxas #Gamers."

The image has since been deleted, but not before the quick-witted folks at NeoGAF captured a screenshot of it. At this point, it's unknown exactly what this "next chapter" is, but the likeliest candidate is the recently announced Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX, which was unveiled for Japan at last year's TGS.

Announced exclusively for a release in Japan, the game bundles together the Final Mix version of the original Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts RE: Chain of Memories, with trophy support for both. It also includes cutscenes of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days for HD viewing in theater mode.

Late last year, Disney Interactive's CFO Jay Rasulo hinted at the release of another "big" title, but it's entirely possible that he was referring to the new gaming initiative known as Disney Infinity, which was revealed earlier this month.

Let's also not discount the notion that an entirely new Kingdom Hearts 3 could be in development. Square Enix refuses to comment on speculation so for now it's up to us to wonder.
