In an announcement on their blog today, Capcom has announced they have partnered with Epic Games in order to bring their future products, including the next Dead Rising, to Unreal Engine 4.
Joe Nickolls, the Studio Director of Capcom Vancouver, spoke on the development as well as the job postings for new positions by saying
“We have some ambitious visions for where we want to take our next games and while our previous proprietary engine served the needs for the projects at the time, shifting to Unreal Engine 4 delivers the right tools for our future direction. Not only will we be developing on a powerful and versatile platform, we’ll also work closely with the team at Epic to maximize the capabilities of the latest and greatest technology. Using this industry leading engine also allows us to quickly integrate new talent onto our projects so that we can focus on pioneering new world class entertainment.”
Dead Rising 3 was an Xbox One launch title back in 2013 and sold very well. In fact, early polls had over 50% attachment rate for the game to the console. It was the most complete Dead Rising game to date with Nick Ramos rampaging through zombies like they're going out of style. With the way the game is known for its intuitiveness and zombie kill creativity, Unreal Engine 4 will only add to the brilliance of the game. What do you guys think? Let us know below.
