Next Star Wars Spinoff Movie Possibly Announced This Summer

At this weekend's Star Wars Celebration, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy talked about the third stand-alone Star Wars spinoff being planned. Specifically, she stated that the announcement of said spinoff could be very soon.

Speaking to MTV, she didn't commit to a timetable, but said, "My hope would be sometime around the summer. I never want to predict the creative process because it is its own thing, so we're in the midst of those discussions right now."

The film's subject is still unknown, but the studio was rumbling about a Boba Fett movie in 2015 with no further news on the subject to date. It was even intended to be shown at 2015's Star Wars Celebration, but the director ultimately left the project and news on it went silent.

As far as the numbered sequels go, it is planned to be a trilogy much like the two trilogies before them.
