During the Microsoft Build conference in March, Microsoft revealed that they had plenty of plans for the Xbox One this summer. Among those plans, the team was considering bringing background music and Cortana to the console.
Xbox engineering lead Mike Ybarra has revealed that the next Xbox One system update will be coming to preview program members towards the end of May or Early June.
The previous system update expanded party chart size, allowed the purchase of Xbox 360 games on the Xbox One for backwards compatibility, brought the ability to track Achievement progress and more. We've been hearing about Cortana coming to the Xbox One ever since she appeared on the console for preview members, since then however, there has been no official word on when she would be coming.
