EA Sports, staying true to their word, has released the first content update for NHL 15. Available for free on Xbox One and PS4, September's content update adds a number of new features including playoff mode, coach feedback, and improvements to Hockey Ultimate Team.
The new playoff mode allows for an offline bracket tournament with up to 16; it can consist of teams from the NHL or you can create your own tournament tree by selecting teams from up to 12 different leagues. And then, you can play or simulate each game, keeping track of player and team stats throughout the whole thing.
Other changes are not as major, but still welcomed. In Be A Pro mode, you'll now get the coach's feedback after each shift, including a grad on your play and how to stay on top of your game. You'll also be scored on Position, Team Play, and Stats. Another minor change is the addition of seeing a game's three stars and their stats.
Lastly, Hockey Ultimate Team has updated layouts and improved navigation through the menus; new animations for player items; and improved edit lines screen "that better identifies players that are injured or require contract extensions."
EA promises to release more content updates in the future which will add Online Team Play and a new GM Rookie Draft for the Be a GM game mode.
