After being revealed for PC back at TwitchCon 2016, developer messhof has announced that Nidhogg 2 is officially coming to PlayStation 4 in 2017. It was also revealed that Nidhogg 2 would feature a ton of new weapons and moves including a bow and arrow, knives, and axes. Each of the weapons will present different ways of playing the game, increasing the amount of replayability that the series offers.
The developer also released a batch of new screenshots, which you can check out below.
Nidhogg 2 is a far more expressive game than its predecessor, to say the least, and its animations and art style have been completely overhauled. But from a games systems perspective, it does appear to be a real evolution for the series, so I'm very interested in seeing where it can go from here.
Just as a refresher, here's the official list of features you can expect from the game.
- Completely overhauled animations with monstrous art from Toby Dixon.
- 10+ levels of fencing goodness, including multiplayer (local/online) and tournament mode.
- Challenge the AI in single-player, including special challenge rounds.
- New soundtrack with music by Mux Mool, Dose One, Daedelus, and more.
Nidhogg 2 does not have an official release date, but it is due to come out on PC and PS4 sometime in 2017.
