NieR: Automata is getting a PS4 Pro upgrade and a possible XB1 release

XB1 fans rejoice

NieR: Automata's visuals are eerily enchanting. I'm not particularly good with technical or artistic terms, but something about the lighting effects and visual style makes the machines look suitably artificial. Simply put, the game looks gorgeous. So how do you make it even better? Producer Yosuke Saito seems to think 4k is a good start.

On the PS4 Pro, NieR: Automata is targeting 4k quality visuals, while insisting the game will strive to maintain the 60 fps standard players expect from the character action genre. There's no word on if that's 4k native or Sony's fairly effective checkerboard tech, but given the game's open nature and 60 fps target, we're going to lean towards checkerboard.

If the PS4 and PC releases are successful, Saito claimed the studio will look into an XB1 version. Considering the original game had less than a million copies sold and still warranted a sequel, we're going to guess the ceiling for an XB1 release is pretty low. NieR: Automata should have more potential than its predecessor given its combined target audience of NieR and Platinum Games fans.
